Well, I couldn't get the DirectTV to recognize my Phillips Home Theatre remote so I purchased an RCA RC815 learning Remote which appears to be a new model. Got the RC815 to recognize my DirectTV Sat receiver right away but now I can't seem to get the RC815 to control my VCR at all! How frustrating!! Didn't have any trouble controlling the VCR with the old remote! Tried everything in the RC815 manual but I can't even get the VCR to turn off or On with any codes. DVD, Sat, Phillips Home Theatre amp works but not my JVC VCR! Any suggestions out there that might help me?

You might have your JVC vcr set to alternate code, whch isn't found in many remote these days. What is the model of your JVC, and check the manual to see how to switch from B code to A code. On older vcrs, all you needed to do is unplug it, then plug it back in, the first command it sees, thats the code it is set to.

Program the universal with the first code in the manual, make sure thats the first remote the vcr sees after plugging it back in.

I have an older HR-S6900U SVHS recorder...I'll look at the manual to see if it shows you how to switch from A to B. Looks like the romote control (that I don't use anymore) has a button for switching from A to B Codes. I'll have to put some fresh batteries in the old remote and switch the codes to see if that works. Shoot!! I have to get ready for work...I'll attempt this later this evening. Thank you so much for the feedback!!

Well, so much for that idea! Seems I can't get my original JVC remote to work at all so I can change from A to B or B to A! Funny, my Home Entertainment remote works with the VCR just fine...just won't control the Satelite box! Guess I just bought myself another paper weight!?
