I thought I'd ask owners of the 4228 about their experiences with OTA HDTV reception.

I''ve read a few reports, about the Silver Sensor antenna that comes with the HDTV Wonder card, from people who have reported that they occasionally lose a channel for a short time. I'm wondering if that's just a problem with the Silver Sensor, or if that also happens with the 4228.

So, as a 4228 owner, do you occasionally lose channels or experience frame drop outs due to weather or does the 4228 always deliver a solid signal whenever you watch HDTV? It would be interesting if you could give a rough idea of the number of times a channel dropped out because of a known transmitter problem and when/if the dropout occurred because of some other reception problem.

The two antennas are not comparable to each other in my book

Had the ATI HDTV card with the antenna you mentioned and was unable to receive very many channel’s in my area.

I eventually I return the unit and bought an OTA receiver with cm 4228 antenna and rotor

Now receive just about all the channels on the HDTV channel map from this fine forum.

I almost never experience any dropouts in signal as long as the antenna is pointed in the right direction.

I'm running a 4228 (8-bay Bow Tie) on top of a mast approx 8' above my eave. The antenna is pointed south towards Buffalo (I'm in Toronto). I haven't had any stations fadeing out except for 2-1 one night, I assume they were having TXmitter problems. WNED was a little on the low side so I installed a preamp which boosted everything up to 80-99% signal strength mark.

Interestingly to pick up the Canadian stations coming in from the west I'm useing a 4-bay Bow Tie without preamp. These stations are all up 80-99% except for 66-1.
