I've got 2 dish network (500 series) dishes. I want to install the second dish at another location and setup one of my boxes at this second location. Is this possible or will the second dish not function with the box on my account?

Why don't you ask the Dish Network people?

Yes, it will work just fine. If you are hooking up a friend or family member then it is a violation of your subscriber terms as well as being against the law...

If it is for your own personal use (vacation home) then it is kind of a gray area... I have several clients that have single accounts that cover their primary and vacation homes and no one has given them a hard time when activating new receivers. Even the CEO of Dish Network has mentioned that he has his vacation home and primary residence on the same account (I doubt he has to pay for it)....
I am a trained professional..... Do not attempt this stunt at home.

Richie,

Thanks for the quick response. Im hooking this up at my lake place that I just bought.

Next question:
I found some Dish 500s on ebay, what else do I need? Can you use a DVR on dish 500?

Ya, if you have a Dish Pro reciever (so basically any reciever excluding the 1000, 2000, 2700, 2800, 3000, 3700, 3800, 3900, 4000, 4700, 4800, 4900, 5000 then it will work. All the recievers I listed above are legacy so if you are using one of those ones you would need either a Dish Pro to legacy adapter or a legacy Dish 500.

I would suggest getting a 4 output Dish Pro Dish 500 or even better, a Superdish... those will give you the best results with a DVR, especially because some DVRs on Dish Network need more than 2 inputs (so you can record and watch live TV at the same time...)
