Grundig Satellite/Terrestrial receiver 6450/6452
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Inquiry: I have just bought the Grundig satellite receiver DSR 6452, which works fine.

I have a home entertainment system placed separately in a cupboard and an IR repeater that forward the IR remote signal to the individual AV components.

The Grundig IR remote control does work flawless directly oriented at the satellit receiver, but seems to be transmitting on a frequency that does not work with the repeater. I have tried the remote with the built in repeaters in my Sony Plasma set-up box, the repeater in my NAD amplifier, the repeater in the Denon DVD and a separate Philips repeater and none of these repeaters are able to forward the Grundig remote control signal to the satellite receiver DSR 6452.

(The remote control is able to copy the Grundig remote control codes to another remote so the problem must be in the forwarding process of the signal)

I would very much appreciate if somebody could refer to a third party repeater that will work with the Grundig DSR 6452 as Grundig tech. can not help.

Grundig tech probably does not know what products are made by others to solve your problem. But they probably do know the modulating frequency of the IR signal. Evidently the remotes you have tried can learn this frequency but it is outside of the frequency range of the IR repeater.

Please contact Grundig again and ask about this. For reference, most audio/video equipment uses a modulating frequency in the range of 38 to 40 KHz. If the frequency is not in that range, someone can probably make a suggestion.

Also, send an email to the tech people at www.xantech.com. If they are familiar with Grundig's signals, they might be able to suggest one of their products that will work.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Thanx for your answer. Grundig was unfortunately no help. I finally got a third party supplier to try out a repeater and fund out that the Grundig uses a 56khz modulation frequency. I finally decided on a product from Maximum Digital Technology which gave liberty as to where I could situate the receiver.
