I had to temporarily dismount my oval 3-LNB to work on the house. Upon remounting it (same place, no change of adjustments), I get everything except locals, which are on Sat B.

A and C come in fine, mid 90's, but I get Searching for Sat 1 or Sat 1 & 2 messages. When I check the test channels, they don't come in, except for the highest one (499?).

Any suggestions?

Thanx,

If dish wasnt moved, just do the basics and re-check all connections. Is it the newer tri-phase dish, or the older ones with (3) SEPERATE lnb's? If its the older one, there a lot more connections involved, that are prone to failure. The may be a 4x4 multi-switch, and a SAT C combiner" Any of these can fail, and it is critical that QUALITY fittings be used on all connections. The new tri-phase dish (3 lnb;s and m/switch all in one electronic piece) was the best thing they could have done.

If all else fails, and your SURE you didnt move the dish alignment (i.e., did you take only the lnb off, or the dish off the pole?) try just un-plugging and resetting the reciever. The satellites are so close to each other, that If the dish WAS removed from the pole, it is very possible, and easy, to get a satellite siganl upon re-installation, but still not be on the RIGHT satellite, resulting in not all 3 birds coming in.
No, I wont install your plasma with an orange extension cord hanging down the wall.

I agree with ido. Check all the cable connections. Double check the dish alignment. Unplug your receivers for 10 or so minutes then plug them in again.

My biggest problems have been with cable ends. They will sometimes corrode or oxidize and stop letting the signal thru. The solution is to trim the cable and put new high-quality ends on it.

If the dish came off the pole, then you may just need to move/re-aim it again like was done on the original install. It will help to have someone inside with a 2-way radio who can relay the signal strength as you adjust the dish.

Good luck solving this one. I know how frustrating it can be.

Even with my signal meters outside aiming the dish, it is still easy to get the wrong bird on the first try with these tri-phase dishes. If your a DIY'er, and using the TV screen, you'll get quite the workout.

Did you do any "changing or cleaning up" of the cables on your re-install? If you pinched a cable too tight, or have a tight staple in it, or even pierced a cable, this will cause your issues as well.

I had one of the coax ends corrode on my set-up. Such a pain in the ass, spent all day trouble shooting a clients sat and come home to relax and watch TV, no freakin signal. I was not in the mood to mess with it so I called Direct, they could not get someone out for a few days so I got a few months of free service.

Anyways, I climbed out on the roof and started taking apart ends and found the culprit pretty quick. Center conductor had just corroded away in less than 2 years. Popped on a new end and I was a happy camper.

Hope you have the same luck!
