7-22-05 Update

I took the A/B switch out and directly connected the antenna that picks up 11.1 ABC and am still having reception problems.

It gives me a strength reading of around 75 out of 100 when I use to get 84. A 75 would be fine but it drops to 49 % unexpectedly locking up the station. Acts like ghosting but when I view the Analog version OTA the picture is almost perfect with no ghosts or snow. It sure is strange considering that both the NTSC and the ATSC appear to be coming from the same tower.

In addition all other stations that I receive with that antenna are the same signal strength as they always were.

Maybe ABC is not trasmitting at full power.

On another note ATSC WB 22 was acting odd last night. It would toggle between the show with some odd rectangular artifacts in the upper left corner and a still image with vertical color bars and the following words:

The WB elevision Network
Galaxy 4 Transmitter 4 Full
WB NET Thursday
High Def Feed
Stereo PID 301
5.1 Dolby AC-3 Delayed 187 mS PID 302
5.1 Dolby E Advanced 1 Frame PID 303
Feed Starts at 20:00 PT

----------------

Tha antenna I am using is a 4228 mounted in a fixed position in the attic with a booster from Home Depot. Can't recieve any decent signal with the booster out of the circuit.

I see that the "-2" multichannel on 11-2 is no longer just a 4:3 copy of the 11-1 HD channel. It is now devoted to looping the local news.

I first noticed it last night when I was trying to make the lousy EPG - Electronic Programming Guide on Pioneer PDP - 4340HD work more reliably.

What I saw was that even in the evening the -2 Multichannel was news not a 4:3 copy of the HD channel.

It became evident to me this morning when I decided to watch the 11-1 morning news on the 11-2 4:3 channel so I could stretch the image and get rid of the side bars which I hate. It worked fine until 7 am when the local news began repeating itself. I than had to switch back to 11-1 for the national news.

In the past the radar -3 channel of most stations had some news going while they projected the radar image but now -2 is a loop carbon copy of the local news.

Not sure if this is a good thing or not ?????

My latest set up is using above configuration and as I have posted elsewhere on this board I have moved the RCA booster closer to the 4228. This left me with no second booster for the SS 2000. Yes the SS 2000 has a booster already but it was not giving me a good enough signal to watch PBS out of Chapel Hill.

I since have purchased a CM7777 and added it to the SS2000.

I have a remote A/B switch so I can switch between the two antennas,

Tonight I was able to receive CBS 2.1 out of Greensborro for the 1st time. Not a great signal but it is a start.

I have to agree with Trunkslammer and Ontariocraig as mounting antennas in the attic
is no picnic.
