i have a DISH network 811 HD rec and a two-tuner 522

its my understanding that these rec's will accept RF or IR signals?

right now i am using the RF remote that they come with

all the components are in a seperate room from the plasma

im looking for a universal remote that will control both of these along with my panny plasma, denon rec and sony dvd player

im leaning towards the Harmony H659

any advice would be great

You cannot use anybody elses remote for Tuner 2 on your 522 since it is only UHF. I recomend a MX-850 for your 811 and Tuner 1 on your 522. It is RF& IR, but the RF will not directly control RF equipment. You need the MRF-250 base to control the equipmnet in the other room.

You can program a Dish remote with the 811 if it is set up for remote position 2. I have a MX-500 which is a IR remote with learning capability.....On your Dish remote you click menu, 6, 3 and enter teach remote. Aim your learning remote just to the right of the center buttons on the 811 receiver. The 811 transmitts any comand you push on the Dish 811 remote from the receiver in IR so your learning remote can learn the commands. I just did this with my upstairs 811 which was set to remote positon 2. I have a DishDVR receiver downstairs and it doesn't have this teach remote feature.
