Guys, please be careful with information that you're finding in the FCC databases. It doesn't tell the full story. My name is Steve Yoder. I'm the Assistant Chief Engineer for WIVB-TV and WNLO-TV. We are not changing frequencies this weekend. The transition will not be happening for several months yet. I promise it will not be a secret when we make the transition. When it's coming, you will know about it. It will be very public.

Thanks for watching.

Thank You...from a dedicated couch potato.
Now...if you can only solve the problem of sports running overtime so my PVR can catch ALL of 60 Minutes BEFORE it switches to the next show at 20:00hrs/8PM!

Minor amendment to WNED-DT's ERP when they move to ; it will be increased to 333kW (pending FCC approval) from the 123 kW granted 07/10/2017.

WNED-DT initially asked for an increase to 345 kW, but withdrew that request as not to conflict with WYTV-DT Youngstown, Ohio which will operate on the same frequency.

On January 16, 2018 I posted that WNYB-DT applied to the FCC to increase its ERP from 1.93 kW to 4.0 kW when they move to  in April 2019.

This was approved on January 25, 2018.

Does this mean that WIVB is staying put in Colden too?

The reason for the delay is  "...the vendor of the encoders chosen to effectuate the channel shares informed Nexstar of an equipment malfunction that makes the encoders unsuitable for installation and operation. The vendor is aware of the issue and is diligently working on a solution."

This will mean a poor signal for WNYO s Grand Island 3.0 signal as its very directional away from Canada. Also only WUTV move to Colden has been approved.WUTV new signal should have near identical coverage as WIVB current signal. There seams to be a delay in approving all these power increases.

To make it official: [Link: wivb.com]

WUTV has been approved to move to Colden because consultation with Industry Canada is not required as it broadcasts on RF .  However as for WNYO-DT, Industry Canada has to be consulted as RF  has been assigned to CJOH-6 Deseronto, and has been assigned open to Woodstock, ON.

You're not missing much with Star Ray. Lots of old Transit footage. A bit more Toronto history programming lately.
