I live in the midwest and my cable provider is Mediacom. I read an article in Sound & Vision about 6 months back listing Mediacom and several other cable companies as promising to have HD signals ready for sometime in January/03. They said if you have digital cable and/or cable modem access available in you're area, your area scould be included. My area has both. Did anyone else read that article, and has anyone heard any followup on this??

All it would take, is for you to call your local number for your cable provider.

Oh, Thanks Johnla, I hadn't thought of that. But I had thought about the fact the the line level people at Mediacom are complete morons and probably couldn't spell HDTV.

Well no one is going to know better at what is availble in YOUR area, then your provider. A magazine article that was done months ago, and written months before it was published. Has no real idea of what is in your area. Only a general idea from a press release they probably got. Even a email or call to Mediacoms home office, is better then asking here, and maybe better then asking your local office. Stiil, I'm sure they would be happy to let you have the service if they have it, or when they have it. As I'm sure as like with anything else cable has that can be considered a "extra" service, there will also be a extra charge for it. And cable companies just love to make money with them.

Well, I guess it was my intent to toss rumors around and see what anyone else had heard about mediacom and to start conversation. Thank you for your input, Johnla.
