I recently purchased a Sony satellite receiver with caller ID. When a someone calls on the phone, info pops up on the screen. The problem I'm having is that this feature, I know this sounds strange, doesn't work after about 4:30 PM. It works fine during the daytime but about the time it starts getting dark it stops working. I have the dish grounded according to the owners manual's specs. and I have no problems with the caller ID on any of my telephones at night. I have called Sony and they don't know. That was their answer. Any help on this would be appreciated.

So maybe it is actually a problem with the phone service in your area. Unlikely, but have you ruled it out? Connect a CID device through a Y at the DSS receiver, and see if IT receives caller ID after about 4:30. Then start testing to see if there is some particular time that it goes bad every day.

When does it start working again? Please don't tell me you have the DSS hooked up so that when you turn off your system, power is removed (essentially resetting the DSS so we do not see if caller ID resumes on its own)!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Thank you, that's a good idea. I will try that.
