Recently, I noticed a loss of quality in the signal from my Dish network feed. Specifically, dark sections of the picture are missing detail. I sent an email to Dish last week but haven't heard back yet. Then this weekend while in a local high-end shop I mentioned the issue to a salesman and he told me that both DirectTV and Dish had recently modified their video compression some and I was seeing the result. I hope this is not the case. I haven't seen any other discussions of this, though I havn't been to the other boards recently. Has anyone else noticed this or heard about such changes?
