I need a little (ok maybe alot) of help here...

My cable system is a digital scientific atlanta type of system. I'm using a netmedia cam/modulator and combining the signals, then amplified and distributed. From a wall outlet the signal is split, one side is filtered for the cable (cam side); the other goes to the cable box itself. This somewhat works out o.k.

The problem I'm having is in my panel when I inject the cam signal to be amplifed and distributed. It seems to "eat" my digital signal so much that certain digial channels just won't operate. I'm at my wits end on options.
Any suggestions or help?

Not directly familiar with the cable system you have encountered but here are a few routine things to keep in mind. You need to make sure the modulator frequency is kept well away from any channels the Cable company is using. Best to call their engineering department as ask what the highest channel / frequency they use is, and set your stuff up a few channels higher.

You also need to make sure you are not overloading the system with the output level of the cam-mod. I have seen some of them have as high as 27 db output level, if you combine that with the cable and then amplify it.... the cam mod will be way too hot and the distortion it causes can cause harmonic interference to a great many channels. You may need to pad down the output of the cam-mod before combining it.

And lastly.... sometimes you have to insert filters into the system to keep the modulator and cable company signals from interfering with each other.

Hope some of this helps
