I have seen CCF files available for my DISH 501. I downloaded it but cannot open it. How do I find out what remote(s) will support the 501 and how the CCF file works??
Thanks,

Pronto remotes use ccf files.
Basically any learning remote will support the 501, and many recent universals with codes.

Prontos and other remotes listed in that seciton of this site use ccfs.
Each remote control type that can use a ccf has a program for opening and editing those ccfs. For instance, Marantz remotes and Prontos do not use the same programs for opening, editing and installing ccfs into their remotes. Look into which type of remote you might want to use, then the program for it, then you can open the ccf and see how it works. Each program has an emulator that lets you 'push' buttons on an image of the remote on your computer screen so you can see what happens on the remote.
