I have been having trouble with locating directv+ dishs much beyond 150ft fron HD satellite receivers. Some installs require this, and I have used all types of combinations of in-line amplifiers and relocating the multiswitch. Have not gotten any info from manufacturers on this topic. Has anybody out their come up with a solution ?

What exactly is the symtom you have, no signal? Low signal?
I have about 130 ft to mine with a powered multiswitch and good quad shild cable and signal is in the 90's?

Mostly problems with the picture freezing up and some channels not coming in at all.

That sounds like a definite aiming / loose mounting / trees-in-the-way problem to me. Most cable problems will affect all channels similarly. Larry www.fineelectricco.com

A bad or corroded connection (ie ground block) will cause the exact same symtoms. Though cable length could be an issue as well. Using a good quad-shielded, solid copper center conductor RG6 will do better over longer distances.

The cable we are using is solid copper, but not quad. connections are clean, we have tried replacing LNB's and multiswitchs, have not however tried a powered multiswitch, signal level is always in the 80's regardless if we get a pix or not

There are RG connectors available that have O-rings in them, there is a silicon-based sealant that can be used to water-proof, and one can always use heat-shrink tube for buried or otherwise exposed connections. Larry www.fineelectricco.com

Quote:have not however tried a powered multiswitch Many switches have a connection to add power in for longer runs if your doesn't might want to check something like this: [Link: partsexpress.com]It doesn't show in the picture but it has the connection to add power here which is recomended for runs over 100ft hope this helps you out.

The problem is the 22K tone is not getting back to the LNBs much over 140 feet.It has nothing to do with signal strenth. If you go to the meter it will probably show high numbers but that is not the problem. Sonora Industries makes an in-line equalizer/amp and it regenerates the 22kz tone that is droping out.
