I was wondering about the sky digi box. I am a UK resident and wanted to purchase an extra subscription but I wanted to know about the the reciever you can buy through sky as part of the package (sorry I dont know the make or model no.) I wanted to know if assuming that the programme Im watching provides it, will I be able to recieve nicam stereo sound with this unit? I have a basic understanding of sound inputs etc. and I currently have stereo nicam sound through my VCR which my Reciever then converts to Dolby Prologic. So my basic question is will I be able to do this with the standard box sky provides? (not the Sky +...just the bog standard one!)
If you can help that would be great

Basically yes.
The bog standard Sky Digibox has red / white / yellow sound outputs so simply pump that into a spare channel on your amp (hopefully something like TV/DBS) and click ProLogic and you will have your amp make Dolby ProLogic sound from the Nicam signal it receives from the Digibox.
TEASER : If you upgrade your amp to a DolbyDigital one and spalsh the cash on a Sky+ box you will get stereo sound through your rear speakers (i.e. Dolby Digital)- this doesn't seem much but it sounds absolutly amazing in reality ! You also, of course, get the full digital recording, live pause PVR facilities which are well worth the cost.
