Hi. This seems to be a great forum, and hopefully some of you will be able to lead me in the right direction with regards to a remote control question.

I recently ordered DirecTV, and they shipped me a pair of Philips DSX 5353 receivers. One of these receivers is in the living room, where I have a slew of Sony products (TV, DVD, Audio Receiver, VCR & CD Player). I have a remote control for all of these systems and it's finally time to consolidate.

I have the audio from the Satellite receiver going to the Audio receiver, and the video, of course, going to the TV.

The question: Is there a remote control out there that can be setup for the Philips DSX5353 to (a) control the Satellite receiver for channel selection & audio, and (b) control the receiver for audio.

I haven't found a remote control that has (a) codes, or (b) codes that work for the Philips DSX5353 receiver. So far the remotes have worked all the sony products, but not this receiver. Not even another Philips remote!! This is getting somewhat annoying.

Anybody with good ideas on a remote that works the satellite receiver, beyond the one the receiver came with??

Hello Todd, I just had Direct TV installed today with the same sat receivers as you. If you are looking for a great control all remote I can highly recommend the Pronto TSU2000. It was very easy to set up to control the DSX 5353 receivers and all my other equipment.
