I currently have a Vaux RC-8 rf remote. Vaux is no longer making this type of device. I am wanting to replace it with a remote that will do the same thing. We have three satellite receivers that are placed in a small room in our basement. This remote by pushing three different buttons will communicate with each of these satellite receivers individually without affecting the other two while doing so. I want to find a remote system or receivers that will program to be able to change channels, etc. and operate them all with one single remote. I know this is possible as my current system does it and I'm sure we aren't the only people in the world wanting this type of functionality. Can you direct me as to what I might find that can do this? Thanks so much! Trish

Check out the RTI remote. There is a review on this site. Its RF unit has separate outputs for each different source you are controlling.Perfect for your needs.

I currently have a Denon AVR-5700 receiver and I output the multi-room source to a Denon AVR-3200 receiver. My problem is when I'm outside I can control the volume and mute etc. on the AVR-3200 unit by using that remote and pointing it thru a window. This works fine but I have to cover up the remote sensor on the other unit or it will change also. They both use the same IR codes. Now if I want to change the multi-room source from CD to say TIVO or FM tuner I have to go inside and change it manually on the AVR-5700. Will the ProntoPro communicate with each Denon receiver separately and how can it do this? I called Denon and they said that the only way around this problem was to buy a RC616 remote receiver and wire it outside. This would cost $400. If I'm going to spend that much money I might as well invest in a ProntoPro and get the additional functionality of a universal remote to control my 2 TIVOs, DVD player, Yamaha CD jukebox with a 20 gig hd, etc. I wish there was a way to reprogram the remotes so one would send out an IR code of zero and the other would send out an IR code of one much the same as the TIVO remotes work. Any advice would be appreciated.

I am currently using a PowerMid XL 8 in 1 Remote with RF Sender and Receiver. Works great on all my equipment apart from the PACE DITV-1000 cable box from NTL. The remote on it's own works with the Cable box fine, but it will not acknowledge any signals sent from another room (via RF) to the Receiver unit. It seems that the IR signals sent from the Receiver unit are different to that on the Remote itself.

I'm totally pissed off with PACE for producing the only cable box which don't support remote extenders.

curlywatts: It uses IRDA, but if you can change the box for a 4000, then it should work [Link: remotecentral.com] read the last few pages

to Richard Skinner --
your problem is the classic one that installers have learned to avoid by avoiding using two units of the same brand in the same room.

But there is hope! Xantech has an IR router that can be made to select which way to send different IR signals. You use this and put IR emitters over the receiver IR windows, then cover the emitters with black plastic so the IR will only go into the receiver you wnat it to go into.
As you might guess from this site, the thing to control it would be a Pronto or such. Here's how it works -- Let's say you make the main receiver the, well, main receiver. Then, every time you want to send a command to the second receiver, you send a macro --
a.Switch the Xantech to the second receiver
b.send the command you want to send to the second receiver
c.Switch the Xantech back to the first receiver.

This arrangement assumes that you use the controls of the main receiver more often. If not, then each command becomes
a.Switch the Xantech to the receiver you want to control
b.send the command to that receiver.

Any remote that can learn enough macros to do this will work transparently. If you had a remote that could just learn a couple of commands and were willing to cope with YOU always remembering how to do it, then you could teach the two Xantech switch commands to buttons on that remote.

Good luck!

Ernie
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
