I'm looking for a surge supressor for a satellite system and wondered what you all recommend. I'm refering to protecting the receiver from the incoming LNB coax. Obviously there is no way to protect the LNB from a lightning hit but what works well at protecting the receiver if the LNB is hit?

I'm looking for something low cost (under $50).

Jeff, there is a plethora of suppressors/arrestors available. I suggest looking for one that protects two coax lines if you now or will have a dual LNB dish, and be sure you buy a unit that provides a good connected-equipment protection guarantee, so the downstream equipment is covered for replacement.

Jeff,

I use the panamax powermax 8 DBS+3. Seems to work ok. Has a satellite line, 2 coax lines and a telephone line with 8 outlets.

Monster HTS2000
Monster HTS800 x2
Monster HTS400

3 rooms, all interconnected, so all must have comparable protection. The 2000 and an 800 are together in my main room since I have just a couple things to plug in. :-)

The 400 protects 2 (or maybe 3) coax lines, which I needed in the bedroom for antenna and sat. Between the 2000 (3 lines) and 800 (1 line), I have plenty of protection for ant, DirecTivo, and even a future 3rd sat line in my theater.
