I recently purchased a second satellite receiver(RCA DRD450RG) so that I could have Dolby Digital. My other receiver (RCA DRD505RB) was purchased about 4 years ago +/-. The new receiver seems to be twice as slow as my old receiver when navigating the guide and switching channels and it's quite annoying. Is this normal? Has RCA comprimised speed for additional features in their receivers? Are there receivers out there that are quicker? One note I should add is that I got a great price on the receiver at Circuit City ($80) for dolby digital.

Interesting - I have usually seen the opposite. The older models were very slow, and the new ones were fast. But you would have to define what slow means, etc.

I don't know much about the models you have, but my RCA receiver (non-DD) seems to run totally fine.

I have found the same thing with all new RCA Receivers. They don't seem to resond to the remote commands, they have a delay when scolling or changing channels. They also won't work with the Marantz RC5000, anyone have any ideas.

We do quite a bit of these new receivers with Marantz remotes, and I've had no remote control issues with these receivers.

I agree channel changing is a little slow, but the DTC-100 is the same way. Could be a combination of things, high data compression rate, and/or software/hardware changes. In either event, looks like it's not soon going to go away.
