The Mits Directv HD receiver is great. I have read lots of great reviews. But I went with the Hughes 86 at about half the price and gave up nothing (except the Mits is a better looking unit). I live in Chicago and receive HBO HD, HDNET (great if you are into sports) and using a powered ant. connected to the Hughes 86, I receive ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX in high def.Have been using this set up since Super Bowl Sunday and it works great. The Mits does have a different program guide (so do look at it), I actually like the Hughes better. The in between price model is the Toshiba 3000 and it uses the same program guide and software as the Hughes so I could not see any reason to spend more on the Toshiba vs Hughes.
Good Luck

Mitsubishi, Toshiba and Hughes are basically the same box, they are all built by Hughes. Minor cosmetic and software differences I think. I seem to remember reading that the Mitsubishi comes with two remotes (one RF, one IR).
