I understand that Sony has stopped production of the SAT 100HD receiver. Does anyone know about their plans for a replacement unit?

There is supposed to be a replacement available this fall. Pricing has not been announced.

All of the second generation HD receivers are reaching the end of their (sales) life. Expect everyone to have new receivers soon.

Saw what is supossed to be the replacement model, SAT-HD200 at sony show.
Will not be availabe until september!
Sony is being beat up by HOllywood in terms of HD outputs. Unit will feature DVI-HD connector that will authenticate connection between HD Sat and DVI equiped TV. No word as to whether RGB and Component outputs will be allowed to pass HD content.

Sony has just issued a press release on 8/8/02 concerning the new Sony SAT-HD200 that replaces the '100' model. Sony says the new units will be available at the end of September. The price will be about $900.00. The only difference that I saw between the HD200 and the old HD100 is the inclusion of the DVI HDTV connector. From what their press release states the component video can pass HD signals but we really won't know until the product reaches the market.

The other BIG DIFFERENCE between the HD100 and the HD200 is that the 200 will be manufactured by none other than HUGHES!!

Sorry, folks, but as one who has seen many years of Sony models arriving,

September of WHAT THE HECK YEAR ? ? ?

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

OK, now I'm confused. Just the other day, I read on AVS Forums that the new Sony is being made by Zenith (LG Electronics). Are you sure it is being made by Hughes?
