Anyone now how to force a reciever to do a software download. Other than turning it off. I have a 301 and a 2800. Also, where can I get more information on the remote controls that come with the 301. I have tried there site and the problem I am having is getting my yamaha av-1 reciever to work with the remote.

Thanks,
Maz

Sorry, but --
What kind of receiver? DSS? Dish? Audio/Video?
What brand 301? 2800?
Is the 301 or the 2800 the receiver?
What kind of software download?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Mazo, with the Philips DSR6000R, there is a menu item that is called "place call now", or something similar. Play with your menus.

Hi Maz,
I had the same thing with a 2700 receiver getting 5-7 channels. Provided it isn't a deffective box and has a card in it, give this trick a try.
1st, If your running a dish 500, take the coax lead from 119w off the switch21 and run it to the receiver sat input and check the 119 signal strength box. (you can reconnect the dish 500 switch when finished)
Do a reset with the remote exactly in this order starting/watching a preview channel.
MENU + 6 + 3 + INFO + Left arrow + Right arrow, You should see a screen says something like "memory dump", if not, repeat, if yes then press the TV/Video button and you see it then ask you to unplug power for a minuete, do that then re-plug, turn on, go to signal meter, select transpounder 11 (must be 11) and turn the 2800 off with the remote or front power button. Do NOT interupt the reciever for 1 hour. Leave the power pluged in and coax connected as it takes the update. Turn ON after 1 hour and Wala! All channels back..
You can then reconnect the switch 21 if you run two sats.
Enjoy,
JimmyJam

Will the above directions work on the 7200 as well?

I bought a 7200 and took it to a friends house to setup and make sure it works. He replaced his 7200 with mine and mine won't pickup both satellites. Everything else is identicle since we just hotswapped the receivers, whic are likewise identicle other than we each have our own card...

Thanks.
