That is way cool!

From what I found on a search at yahoo you could use it to record DVD from DirecTV HBO HD to the hard drive and watch it later???

The Hipix card can't record from DirecTV. It was designed to record over the air (OTA) signals. It can also record HD satellite signals using Dishnetwork's model 5000 receiver with the HDTV add on. These were discontinued a couple of years ago and replaced with the model 6000 (which doesn't have this feature). Since this is the only satellite receiver you can record from, they have been selling for $1000+ on eBay. For more information on recording HDTV, go to www.avsforum.com and look in the Recording HDTV section.

The HiPix works GREAT for over the air signals. 'Twas awesome to be able to save the Olympics opening ceremonies in HD format so some friends could come over later and catch them!
