Question for everyone. I have a roof-top antenna hooked to my Sony SAT-HD100. The antenna has a rotor on it so i can point it in different directions.(of course : )
I use this antenna for NTSC and DTV transmissions. I get different DTV stations depending on where the antenna is pointed. Here is the problem.

The sony will only tune in channels that it picks up during a auto-program. I get different channels depending on where the antenna is pointed. I cant force the sony to tune in a channel that it doesnt detect during auto programming, which limits the stations i can watch. unless i want to go through the hassle of re-auto-programming each time i turn the antenna.

Does anyone know of a fix for this. does sony have a firmware update??

point antenna in one direction and channel search.

point antenna in the other direction and " Auto Add "
this wil just add any NEW channels and not delete
the old

Nope, doesnt work that way with the Sony SAT HD-100. Any time you Auto Add for DTC Channels, it overwrites any existing memory. Its a total design flaw.

On my unit when I Auto Add it does not overwrite existing channels even if they can't be picked up. I point between NY and Philly. If I use Auto Program it will overwrite any channel the unit doesn't pick up. Maybe your unit is defective?

yeah, what Barry said.

Something tells me you are just doing another full channel search and not an "Auto Add" like I told you to do. Go to add/ delete channels after a search, then point antenna in the other direction and auto add, I am sure you are not doing this.

I am sure that I AM doing this. we are talking about DTV Channels, not analog NTSC. My machine displays a screen when you do this that says all stored channels will be overwritten, do you want to proceed. and then, it wipes the memory and re-memorizes. I called sony and they did verify this. there is nothing wrong with my box, it is not defective. I thank you for your help, but what i want to find out, without spending another 45 minutes on the phone, is if sony has a new firmware update.

Knuckle is correct I've done this with a remote rotor.
