I have a basic Hughes Direct TV receiver and I recently picked up a Zenith TVBR2542Z tv/vcr combo. I can't find any codes that will work for controlling the TV with my Hughes remote. It would be nice to just use the one remote if possible. I couldn't get a good answer from anyone including Zenith, Direct TV, local shops etc. I figure if you guys don't have an answer, there is no answer.
Are these devices even compatible or do I have to get a different remote?
Thanks in advance for any insight.

Zenith usually pops in pretty quick if you use the scan feature on your remote. On the new Hughes remote, select TV as the appliance, then hit the MUTE button. Release them simultaneously. Then go to the channel changer and channel up until your TV turns off. Then hit the TV button again to lock it in. Hit the power button again to make sure it comes back on and all the features work. D.D.

I've tried that too. I scanned for a half hour one time and still nothing.

Do the same thing that Dish daddy said but use the vcr instead of the tv button . This work for me with a hughes remote and a panasonic TV /VCR combo unit. It's worth a try.

Cool! That was it. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I only scrolled up a few channels and it was set.
