I have some of the new DRD485rg and some old dra480re RCA dish rcvrs out in the feild right now that are already activated and locking up periodically w/ a "Access Card Expired". Then about 5 minutes later the programming comes back. Then about 5 minutes later it goes out again. Again and again......etc....

Keep in mind these rcvrs started this problem just minutes after being newly activated. Three of the before mentioned rcvrs are in the same house.

Any ideas??????????

Talk about copy-protection!!!

Seriously, you should definitely call DirecTV, and not have to put up with it for a moment. Being activated translates to "You're being billed now!".

You shouldn't even put up with this long enough to type a post here. Let the company fix it. If necessary, climb up the chain of command. (I LOVE doing that!) Everybody has a supervisor.

I had the same problem when I activated my DIrect TV TIVO unit. It has also been discussed on dbsforums.com The solution seems to be to call directTV and have them take your card off the list and then "hit" it again and re-activate it. I had directTV do that with mine and it worked after that.
