hello,
I have the RCA RCRP05B remote, Comcast cable, Sharp TV, Panasonic DVD. my remote controls all these fine. I just purchased a Vizio SB3821-C6 sound bar and am wanting to add it to the audio button on my remote. It used to control my onkyo surround just fine.

I cannot find a code to enter that works. I just want to turn it on/off and volume up/dn

Thanks
Ken

I posted this in the discreet code forum earlier, I don't think that was the right place.

Thaks MDaveJ,

Not sure I completely understand but think I might. So I am to use the 10864 code above and apply it to the device button (audio)

then follow these instructions for each individual button...

Program Effective Function Code (EFC) for a single device
1.TAP a DEVICE button (eg, Audio)
2.PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
3.TAP 9 - 9 - 4.
4.TAP the SETUP button
5.TYPE the 3 or 5 digit EFC code (aka "advanced code)...00169 for Vol+
6.TAP the regular button (eg, VOL+) - two Blinks

Correct.

You can also just test the code before programming it. To test vol, just tap Setup followed by 00169, vol should tick up when you press or hold the final digit. If it works, then program it as above.

I'm pretty sure those codes work with your model soundbar, but post back if they don't.

Well, that didn't work at all. It won't accept a 5 digit code. All the codes given on the code sheet that came with the remote are 4 digit. It would accept a Visio tv code 1758 but none of the others. But although it seemed to accept with the 2 blinks, nothing responds

Sorry, got my threads crossed. Was just helping someone else with a Comcast remote and gave you the Comcast remote code. For the RCA, use AUD 1257 plus my posted EFCs. So assign that and give the 00169 another try.

If that doesn't work, we may have to turn off volume punch thru and try again.

Since the RCA is a learning remote, you can also simply learn the codes from the Vizio remote.

thanks again mdavej,
I believe I got a satisfactory fix last night. I still couldn't get the codes to work. but what I did was this. (we watch cable the most)
I copied the cable box to the aud function button. at that point they worked identical. I then taught the vol+ & vol- buttons from the vizio remote and now we can adjust the volume, change channels, get menu & guide all on one function button. I still cannot turn it on/off. no codes worked and it wouldn't accept the teach on that command. but that's really not a show stopper.
one thing that remains to be seen is that now that volume is controlled by the RCA remote, it is much more sensitive than the vizio remote. you have to tap it ever so quickly to step volume up a notch. if you hold the button down for even 1/2 second it will shoot to full volume instantly. I think I can get used to this but my wife & grandkids i'm not so sure about.... when that happens it scares the bejebees out of you.
when its is on cable button it functions just as before so I can revert to that if this don't work out.

You can't learn to the Power button on the RCA, so just put on/off on a different button. Any other button will accept a learn (except the device buttons).

You can learn to a shifted button (Setup = Shift). For example, if you press Setup prior to learning or using any button, it keeps it's original function but does the new function when you press Setup first. So you could keep LiveTV's original function, for example, and learn on/off to Shift-LiveTV. Then pressing Setup LiveTV will turn your device on/off. Using shift effectively doubles the number of buttons on the remote.

And if you'd rather do all of this programming from a computer, check this out:
