Hey guys, I have a URC R-50 and loved it for many years! its old and getting tired.. I picked up the R40 today and the screen is way smaller.. remotes are similar and use the same URC programming that im used to.. My Question is is there a better model above the R40 and the R50 ? Bigger screen and same URC programming? Dont need RF.. Thanks for any help! I went to the URC website too many remotes.. thanks!

Right now... there's nothing in the consumer lineup above that. Directly above the R50 is the pro version MX-450 (same as R50 with some frills), and then you're into pro models like the MX-780, MX-880, MX-890...

Thats what I figured! The MX-450 has to be programmed with software? Or does it have on board programming like the R-50 and R-40 ? Thank you for your reply..

The MX-450 is programmed on-board, and is a little more advanced than the R50 in that you can edit macros. There is PC software, but it's only for backup of configurations.

Thanks Dan..Im pretty good with the onboard programming now with the R50 & R40 ... would the MX-450 be similar to those? With just some extra settings? I noticed that the R40 I have lets you edit a macro and the R50 doesnt.. Thanks for ALL yoru help!

Yeah, the R40 is actually a newer model than the R50 / MX-450... I think they realized the artificial limitations imposed on the R50 didn't make sense.

Thanks Dan, Another question maybe u can help me with..
I have a Samsung TV and Im using a URC R50 .. And I used the codes to set the remote with the Samung TV.. I see on page 2 of the TV buttons I have a HDMi 1, 2, 3 .. 1 works fine, 3 works fine but HDMI 2 scrolls through the source's doesnt put the HDMI directly on HDMI 2 like 1 & 3 does! Is there a way to find a code set for a samsund that will do ALL 3 HDMI's with one push? I looked on my Samsung OEM remote and it ONLY has a source button no seperate HDMI buttons! Thanks for any help! I went through most of the codes for the samsun and didnt find a code that had ALL 3 seperate. Thanks for ANY help!
