Hello to everybody out there. Like most people I come seeking your help, wisdom & advice.
I have and old but very good condition NAD L40 CD receiver amplifier without the original remote. I have a one for all URC-8350 which works almost all of the functions except the radio. So it will switch the unit into standby, alter the volume, mute, select the CD ,Tape and Aux modes but it will not select the Tuner or alter the frequency or waveband.
I have tried to input some advance codes for the tuner which I found on the net but the remote wont have it at all.
The only main NAD device code which is accepted by the remote is 30320 there are 5 others listed in the manual but these don't work.
I have attempted to get the remote updated by the one for all website but this is a singular waste of time.
Can anybody here point me in the right direction? I am a complete newbie so please give me any instructions as if you were talking to a 5 year old!

This may be difficult.  We don't know of a way to keymove in advanced codes on a URC-8350. I'm reasonably sure that Tuner is EFC 00240, but that doesn't help us with the 8350.

Nor do we have a complete set of signals for the L40.  The NAD website does have IR codes for quite a few of their older equipment, but not for the L40.  It is possible to upgrade the 8350 by playing a WAV file while holding the remote next to a speaker, but it would be pretty laborious to try all the various possible  signals.

One obvious approach would be to use a Logitech Harmony remote.  They probably have the L40 in their database, and you can check that in advance of purchase.

Thanks for getting back so quickly, I have checked out the Harmony device listings and the L40 is listed. Do you have any suggestions for which Harmony remote to go for? Will any do?

I'm not a user of Harmony remotes, but I believe that any model will work.  Do be careful of used remotes.  Some people get their remote replaced under warranty, and then sell the old one.  But the remotes have serial numbers which Logitech can read, and they won't allow you to update a remote which has been replaced under warranty.

Just to update this thread. I got hold of a Harmony 200 which didn't fully work either even after several emails & 'syncing' the remote with updated information. Harmony eventually said they didn't have the Hex codes for the CD and would I ask NAD for them, also why Harmony just couldn't put the codes they do have on the remote in one go I don't know.

Any way I arrived at a situation where using both the 'Harmony' & the 'All in One' I had all the remote functions covered. The 'All in One' had the majority of the functions so I copied the others over from the harmony. Long winded & expensive but I now have what I wanted in the first place.

What I don't understand ,as clearly a full set of codes does exist, why don't either companies remotes work straight out of the box, well probably due to money as the NAD L40 is rare & old so not worth them bothering about.

How incomplete is your code set? I can fill in some gaps. I have inputs, volume, power (toggle) and some transport.
