Hi I am new to Remote Central (but not to programming universal remotes) and my question is how can I generate a Pronto Code from a hex or decimal code (From the program make hex) I am trying to program my computer (I have a Microsoft Windows XP MCE Remote with an IR blaster and Event Ghost) to control my Panasonic Compact Audio System model SA-CH60,SC-CH60 with a separate Compact Disc Changer Model SL-DH66 (They connect with a proprietary cable)
I don't have the original remote but I have a RadioShack 15-2116 and so far I was able to get the Power Volume +- and Mute function learned to the computer but obviously I am missing a lot of them. I also have the program ProntoUtil but I am unsure how to use it to generate a Panasonic Code

First you need to find out which IR signals are being used and then you can convert them to Pronto Hex.

That's something of a problem with Panasonic Combo systems- the IR signals vary from model to model.  However, you can try signals from various models and probably find all the functions.  See this file for the SA-CH60 (you'll need to download RemoteMaster also to read the file).   This Excel spreadsheet also lists possible device.subdevice and function (OBC) numbers for various Panasonic equipment.

I am the one that made that file on the on hifi-remote.com. I have a JP1 Cable but I can't get it to work anymore (It's either the remote or cable and I don't know how to fix it)
Anyway the Panasonic Main Device is 160 with several Sub devices (0, 10, 28, 172) The sub device number 10 is most of the functions

So what are you trying to do?   Do you have a remote that accepts Pronto Hex, and just don't know how to use MakeHex or IRMaster?  

Or do you need some other info?

I don't have a physcial remote that takes pronto codes but I have an Microsoft Windows XP MCE remote Sensor and I am trying to program the IR Blaster using The program EventGhost which only takes pronto codes so I need to know how to make pronto codes from the upgrade file I created

I've never heard of ProntoUtil. But you can download MakeHex and the MakeHex GUI from the JP1 site where you got RM. Then enter the protocol, device and sub-device from the general tab and the range of OBCs, and MakeHexGUI will generate all the pronto hex. There is another tool called IRPMaster or IRMaster that can be used in a similar way. It's more advanced and can even send the codes if you have Global Cache or other hardware.

I did not have the full understanding of Pronto Codes but I finally figured it out. I have also found out that the learned codes are alittle different from the exact calculated code and that is what was throwing me off guard and I did not raelize that until I actually tried a calculated code (the Audio unit will respond to both the exactly the same though).
