I registered just for this post with some information I hope you find useful and cool.
So I just bought a new Pioneer receiver and was perplexed why it kept turning on/off with the TV (with a Comcast remote All On button). I tried reprogramming the Aux and also disabling the audio input which I also thought might automatically turn it on. To no avail of course. I then noticed that it would turn on and off just after the Aux light went on so I tried to cover up the remote at that point in the cycle which worked. I confirmed the mysterious 4th signal by recording some video with my cell phone camera which if you didn't know picks up infrared light!
Some background, we have 2 TVs (one HD, one not) and so we have one old light silver remote and one new dark silver/grey remote for the HD set. It turns out that the new grey remote has that 4th signal while the older light silver remote does not. Here is video proof:
New remote (4 signals) [Link: tinypic.com]
Old remote (3 signals) [Link: tinypic.com]

My super-easy solution was to swap out the old remote for the new one and just reprogram the TV button settings. The cable button looks like it's universal for Comcast receivers and works for both. If you don't own an old remote, you might be able to convince Comcast to give you one of their older silver ones.

Peace out.

A better way to disinguish the remotes:  older has a gray OK/Select button, while newer has a red OK/Select button.  The overall color of the remote isn't reliable.

So did you read post #2 in this thread that explains why this happens, and a way to stop it even if you don't have a gray button remote?

Thanks for the reply and the good info. For the record, the button color is not as definitive as you think. I've lined up the 3 remotes that we have (2 older silver ones and the one newer grey one) and as you can see they all have identical button colors including all red OK/Select buttons.

All other external markings are identical, but there are probably other internal markings or stickers that could help identify the model. For the purposes of this thread (Pioneer receiver interference) I guess the only way to be sure is to film it with a cell phone or other video camera and watch for the 4th flash.

I did read your earlier post but I wasn't clear on what you meant by the 995 and 994 commands and reprogramming the PIP button. I was able to find a quick workaround so I didn't pursue it too much, but I'm sure that's helpful advice for others. Also, since we have a few people using similar remotes, telling people to use different buttons depending on the set can get confusing.

You seem to know a lot about this stuff so I'm wondering if you knew what the purpose was for that 4th signal (1023). This is the second sneaky thing that I've discovered concerning Comcast and their HD hardware/software. The first being the secret menu on the HD box to change screen resolution.
