I am trying to manually enter the code for a Sony Bravia TV into a RCA Universal remote. It is, admittedly, a very old RCA remote but it still works. I THINK it is a D771...it looks like the picture in that manual, although it doesn't say "Wide Range Remote" at the bottom.
Anyway, I've looked up all the Sony TV codes I can find and I've tried entering them on this remote and none of them work. I've tried to just look up 'Sony Bravia TV codes' online and on various remote control sites, and nothing lists codes for the Bravia models.
Is it just not possible to operate a Bravia from a universal remote? All I want to do is turn it on and off and adjust volume. Channel selection and everything else is controlled by an old DirecTV box.

to settle these codes you can use the manual guide and i am sure you can attach your Universal remote. _____________________ [Link: watchlivechannels.com]

sharspen, Sony hasn't changed the IR signals needed to control things like volume or power. That's why you can't find setup code specifically for the Bravia-- all Sony TVs use the same IR signals.
Are you sure that you have the correct setup codes? There is nothing universal about setup codes-- each remote manufacturer has their own numbers, so finding a setup code for Sony on the Internet is only useful if it is a setup code for your RCA remote. Also, RCA doesn't actually manufacture anything, and just attaches the brand to the remote. So a setup code which works with one RCA may not work with a different model.
