The recent One-for-all universal remotes have dropped the pioneer laserdisc code from their remotes. Those models like urc08820 and 10820. but older OFA remotes that are still available like urc-8910 have pioneer code.

And what commands that aren't preset can be added via advanced codes, these advanced codes:

It still just responds to a pioneer LD code, and not pioneer cd code.

Any device key can be programmed with code from any device type, but you have to change it that device like so; say you want to use AUX device key:

1. aux
2. press and hold SET
3. press SELECT
4. using the DOWN CURSOR key, scroll until the device name changes to LDP
5. press SELECT, since code 0059 is already in the display
6. exit

if code 0059 wasn't already in the display, you enter it and then press select in step 5.

Prehaps its the IR sensor of the LD player maybe broken? Do you have another piece of pioneer component with IR in & out jacks (Control IN & OUT), use that piece as the sensor.

Or do you have IR control cable connected to the in of LD player disabling the IR sensor on the front?

no to both . The spindle motor might be out of alignment with the laser it will only play the whole CD not individual tracks. I dropped it off at a Pioneer repair shop I will know in a fews days if its worth repairing .
