Someone please help me. I have been on the phone all day with Time Warner (who supplied a Scientific Atlanta cable box to me) and Toshiba (whose 32" LCD DVD combo I just purchased).
Here's the problem: the cable box remote is the one I want to use, since it has unique controls which control the Digital Video Recorder and the Guide function for the cable box. However, Time Warner only has two codes available and neither work.
The Toshiba TV I bought is a newer one (model 32LV67U). Time Warner said to call Toshiba which I did. They told me to contact Time Warner. Now that seems conter-intuitive; i.e., that Time Warner would have a code unique to their product. I asked the rep at Toshiba where Time Warner would have got the codes for their TV, and she said, 'oh, they get them from us". Duh! So, could I have them from you? "Oh no sir, we dont have access to them". OMG!
Anyway... what to do? Anyone have an ideas?

Would you list the toshiba tv codes from cable remote manual, and the toshiba dvd codes?

remote control codes for toshiba tv: 1010, 1016,1017,1040
turns out that the last one, 1040, was the correct one. took 4 calls to time warner to get someone that would tell me that there were 5 codes in the manual that I had long since lost (two techs told me there were only two codes).
to be fair, there are apparently two universal remotes made by Sci Atlanta/Comcast. one has four clear buttons on the row below POWER, and one has 5. the '1040' code worked for the remote with 4 clear buttons (part number on the remote SA Part NUmber: 749529A).
anyway, problem solved. the code for the Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8000 remote that will control a Toshiba LED/DVD combo (Toshiba model number 32LV67U) is '1040'.
Thanks Edmund for beginning to try and assist me. Sites like this, and people like you make living in an era where technology seems to get more and more confusing, at least somewhat bearable for people like me.
