I own a Yamaha RX-V596 AV Receiver, and have a DirecTV RC24 remote control that operates my Mitsubishi TV, the DirecTV box, but it will not operate the Yamaha receiver. I have programmed every code given to me by DirecTV and attempted to go through the confusing search feature, but to no success.

Does anyone have a code that will make this combination work, or better yet, what are all of the codes available from DirecTV to operate a Yamaha Receiver? These are the ones I have:

30176
30186
31375
31331
31176
30354
30143
30133
30504

ANy help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dan

The code to use is 30176, it won't control both the ON & OFF commands, since yamaha uses a two-key power scheme and the white remote only has a single power key.

To get the volume: First there ghas to be a tv c ode programmed to the tv device, yours or any. Or the vol keys won't work, then:

1. av1 or av2
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 9-9-3
4. press VOL UP

If you wish the Yamaha vol in all devices do the following instead:

1. av1 or av2
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 9-9-3
4. press SELECT

Thank you so much! I will try that...are you saying in your second option that I can get my yamaha receiver volume under the Directv mode (as opposed to having to switch to av1 every time I want to change the volume)? If so, that is great, because Directv told me over the phone that I would have to switch to AV1 every time I wanted to change volume if I am using a receiver, which I found utterly ridiculous (I mean, most people who have HD don't use the TV for sound, so you would think that the manufacturers would make sure you could use the volume key on the directv mode for whichever input you want).
