I would love it if this could be posted to hifi-remote.com. That is an excellent resource. I do believe it is the MV2016BLK Model. It reads MV2015/Mv2016 on the back of the remote. I will check this evening and write back.

Also OBC/EFCs. I tried to understand original button codes, but I am still fuzzy on it. I have read the write up on hifi-remote and other places. But I just haven't wrapped my head around it. So I couldn't use the Worksheets posted there. I made my own.

Using a spreadsheet, I created twenty-four (24) columns. Thirty-two(32) rows high (thirty-three [33] for headers), in groups of three (3). The first column is blank for key name, next column Numbered 0-31, next, #'ed 256-287. I understood that the functions "wrap around" @ 255 where they start to repeat. I added > 255 to check that example EFC 057 = 313. This function code is no different. Since my first try didn't work, also I wasn't quite sure that EFCs were ALWAYS only three digits, plus getting the button mover sequence correct. I started from zero worked my way up to 255. There is a pattern, like other EFCs, these to show up in grouping of eight (8).
EFCs 000-035; 044-051; 060-063 have NO function. 036-043, do have a Function, as does 052-059. This repeats again for 064-099. This can be plotted easily if you create two (2) Groups of columns. 000-063; 064-127; 128-191; 192-255.

Usable EF Codes for DVD 0784.
036 -043; 100-107; 164-171; 228-235
052 -059; 116-123; 180-187; 244-251.

Well, this is embarrassing. I don't know how I missed it, but there was already an upgrade for a 2016. You did find a few functions that the previous upgrade didn't have, so that's good, but the work you did could have been much less if I had only noticed. I posted your file also, since it has more functions. BTW the other upgrade shows EFC 235 as GoTo.

The EFC pattern you're seeing is mostly a consequence of the encryption (XORs, bitwise complements and bit shifts) that UEI uses. If instead you look at the EFCs that you found and convert then to OBCs (the function numbers that the design engineers would have been working with), the numbers run from 0 to 31, and 64 to 95. So two groups of 32 OBCs. If I had noticed, your searching couldhave been considerably reduced. Sorry!
The upgrade

I am still unclear on how to convert EFCs to OBCs. Is there an alternative explanation than the one on HIFI?
Also how do these upgrades work. are they for JP1 remotes?

I use RemoteMaster, and let it do the calculation for me. An EFC is an encoded version of the data that is sent to the executor (a subroutine that makes the pattern of light flashes). For simple IR protocols, the OBC is usually very similar to the data fed to the executor--perhaps the bit order is reversed and/or the zeros and ones are flipped. In some cases, the IR signal includes checksums or toggle bits, and some executors are able to send multiple styles of signals, which then requires control bits in the input data to the executor. These all require more data than just the OBC. Keeping track of all this is a trial, but RM makes it relatively easy.

The primary use for upgrades is to upload the upgrade via a JP1.x cable. However, RM will show you the EFCs for an upgrade and you can manually enter those (but with a little less experimentation!)

I need a remote code for a Memorex model #MVD4541 (DVD/VCR combo) to hook to DISH tv set-up. Any help is appreciated!
