I'm new here and I'm not sure about the protocol but I've been unable to find what I need by searching.

I have the basic comcast remote (image)

The cable guy set it up and there's no manual. So it doesn't control my TV and I don't know how to program it. If I could program it for my Sharp TV/VCR Combo I would be eternally grateful. I really only need power and volume. Although it would be nice to get the menu functions I would consider that a non-essential.

I think this is a jp1 ready UEIC remote. Post in the one-for-all/radio shack section.

If it is a UEIC manufactured remote, go here http://www.urcsupport.com and try using the setup instructions and codes for something like the Atlas remote. They may work.

While it does have the 6-pin connector common to JP1 remotes, it's not actually JP1 compatible because it uses a different processor than all the other JP1 remotes.

I found the code "0047" for my RCA tv. The power, volume and mute buttons work, but the channel, numbers etc. do not. I have the comcast basic remote controller.

Wow, you must be really desperate for an answer.

I think your remote is behaving as designed. After all, you got it from Comcast, they probably expect you to be changing channels using their box, not the TV. Many cable remotes, by default, always send cable box codes for the channel tuning keys no matter what mode you are in.

If you want to try changing that, go to the link to I posted earlier in this thread and follow the instructions for "Channel Control Unlock". Don't know for sure if the Comcast units support this feature or not, but give it a try and see what happens. If that doesn't work, then you are probably stuck with the remote the way it is.
