Have a Tivo Series II. Purchased a 32" Samsung TX-P3264 and DVD-HD841 DVD earlier this year
I am using the Tivo remote to control the power/volume but there seems to be a problem with the IR signals being received from the Tivo remote. I have to press multiple times to get the volume up/down. I did not have this problem with my old Panasonic TV, and it works as expected with other TV's in our house. Using the remote that comes with the TV I have no problems.
Power and AV input work flawless. It's only vol up/down. The IR light on the TV blicks, it just seems to ignore the control.
any ideas?
[received a MX-3000 for christmas, hope I don't have a similar problem with this remote]
FWIW, also noticed the DVD-HD841 has an IR problem - have to STAND UP and point straight ahead in order for DVD to receive commands. very frustrating! (with Samsung DVD remote)

No, just samsung and universal remotes, theb makers seem to use the wrong protocol, result, non-repeating vol commands. The preset codes in your mx-3000 probably will have the same results. But if learn the commands directly from the samsung remote, there shouldn't be any problems. As for the tivo remote, you're out of luck there. The OFA URC-6131 has a corrected code for samsung tv's, its code 0702.

Yep. Older Samsung TVs used a slightly different way of encoding "repeats" (i.e. what the remote sends if you keep holding a key down). Samsung modified their format a while back and not all universal remotes have caught up with the change. The symptom is exactly as you describe -- simple one-time commands like "power" work just fine, but "ramping" functions like volume either don't work at all or require that you press the key repeatedly.
Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about the TiVO remote (I have the same problem) except to try tapping the volume key rapidly in succession instead of holding it down. That works for me, though it is a pain. But like Edmund says, with your MX-3000, if volume doesn't work you can just learn the correct format commands from your OEM Samsung remote.
