I'm looking for codes or instructions on how to manually use the code search feature for the Philips PHDVD5 remote control. I could not find any info on this site, so hope someone outthere has some info.

Your time is greatly appreciated!

Thanks! B Britton

I need to know which keys to hit to get into the programming mode - there isn't a "set" button. It is model PHDVD5. I have a Mitsubishi TV, JVC DVD player, and Proscan VCR.

Thanks!

Instructions on how to use the CODE SEARCH button:

In this example we will say we are setting up the TV button for our television set.

1. Manually turn the power to your television set ON.

2. Hold down the Code Search button on the remote for 2 or 3 seconds until the light on the remote stays on (aka stays solid).

3. Push the TV button on the remote.

4. Point the remote at your television and slowly press POWER until the television turns OFF.

5. Press the ENT button on the remote. (It is under the number 7 button.)

That's it! I lost the manual to my remote and was so excited when I figured this out I just had to post it. Have fun!

The TV/Video button on this remote is under the number 9 button. It has the work Input above it and has the verbage TV/VCR on it.

The CODE LIST for the Philips PHDVD5 remote (and apparently other remotes manufactured by Gemini for the North American market, can be downloaded using the following link:

[Link: gemini-usa.com]

or just point your browser to http://gemini-usa.com and choose Support.

This guide is included as an insert in the retail package user's guide and includes some programming instructions but is NOT the complete User's Guide, which I have been unable to locate for downloading. I would appreciate if anyone can tell me where to find a digital copy of the User's Guide for this unit.

Hello,

I just got one of these remotes so I still have the instructions.

Presumably you have programmed the remote to work with your Samsung DVD player (codes 147 & 342) and the Subtitle button still doesn't work.

The Learning function allows the universal remote to learn from another remote which has the function that you want. Here are the instructions (slightly compressed) for the LEARNING MODE.

1. Press and hold CODE SEARCH until red indicator turns on.

2. Press and release desired mode button (eg, DVD). Red indicator stays on.

3.Press and release LEARN. Light blinks and stays on.

4. Press and release Learning Remote button that you want to teach (eg SUBTITLE).

5. Point remotes facing each other (nose-to-nose) approximately 1" apart.

6. Press and hold the Original remote button (eg SUBTITLES) until red indicator blinks once and stays on. If there is a learning problem, indicator blinks for 3 seconds then stays on. If this happens, repeat Steps 4 to 6.

7. Repeat Steps 4-6 for other buttons you want to program.

8. Press and release CODE SEARCH button when all desired remote commands are learned.

It is labeled "input setup" and is right above the numeric keys. I just got mine yesterday, and so far it only works when I enter the TV mode, then it will cycle through the (TV/DVD/Video) modes. -dz-
