I just purchased this remote, but it is unable to control my Phillips DSX5500 Directv box using the supplied 5085 code in AUX mode. Other codes do not work. The SAT button seems unable to be programmed, no instructions were given for this button??????? Also trying to find a code for a Walmart Durabrand home theater system (the cheap $50 unit) Any ideas?

That's like a 4 year-old remote, philips wasn't selling SATs back then, you're out luck. Most of the current crop of cheap universal remotes still don't have a philips SAT code. And can't use a learning remote, the philips suffers from a toggle bit, which learning can't duplicate properly. If you want a remote with a code, then get a newer One-For-all like the urc-6131.

Thanks for the info. I returned the RCA and purchased the All-for-one URC-8810. It`ll turn on/off the box, and the guide options work, but that`s about it. The "learn" is nonsense, can`t change the channels or use the "fav" button. I couldn`t get the Durabrand home theater to work at all. I called their cust. serv. # and they told me to mail it to them for an "update". Off it went today, I`ll let you know how it works whenever I get it back!

Got the remote back yesterday, still won`t operate the Durabrand HT-3915. They installed codes #1561, and #1566. My remote must be the class dunce, won`t "learn" anything. What a worthless piece of junk!

I'm sorry, when I suggested the 6131 it was for the philips SAT, completely missed the duraband HT, all the uei remotes I have code 1561 for it. Its WM fault, it's their brand, they probably stick it on all kinds products made by all kinds companies. UEI can't keep up.

I was searching through your database and found a helpfull post that has partially solved my problem. I`ve gotton the power button to work, just not the volume. The learning process must be done this way:

(copied from another post)

"If learning is not working.... I suspect you are not doing it properly, most likely because the printed manual is hopeless.

Here's the correct learning method...

1) Position the 2 remotes head-to-head
2) Press and hold the SET button, 2 flashes
3) Type 975, 2 flashes
4) Press the relevant device mode button (eg, TV, VCR, etc)
5) Press the URC-8810w button that you're programming. At this point the red LED will start flashing rapidly...
6) While it's still flashing, start pressing the button on your original remote. At this point the URC-8810w red LED will stop flashing, but KEEP PRESSING the original remote button until the URC-8810w's red LED gives 2 short flashes.
7) If you have more buttons to program, repeat steps 4 thru 6.
8) When you're finished, press and hold SET and wait for 2 more flashes."

This was exactly the problem. The key is to have the two remotes head to head at the beginning (step 1) and most importantly, to press the button on the original remote WHILE the LED is still flashing (step 6). The manual is very misleading in this regard. I'd be surprised if they don't get a ton of these returned.

if you have the 6131, then there isn't any learning possible, it just doesn't have the ability.

I have the 8810W. So far all of the learning processes have been working, including the FAV feature on the Phillips DirecTV. I can`t believe the problem was not having the remotes head-to head BEFORE you start the programming. OFA needs to update their manual!
