I was hoping someone could recommend a universal learning remote that would work with a c-1024 IR to RF converter that I would use with my Bose Lifestyle 20. The lifestyle 20 has no IR capability so I have to use the c-1024 converter to get a universal remote to work. I've hear that the Phillips Pronto works, however I was hoping to find something less expensive. Anyone know of a inexpensive learning remote that would work with the c-1024 and the Bose Lifestyle 20??

No universal remote has preset commands for the C-1024, the only commands come in pronto hex. So you need a remote that can import pronto hex, the cheapest being JP1 UEI remote, which you would need to hack yourself.

You can click on this link, which will let you open the pdf file of the manual for the C-1024.

In the second paragraph, it says to call if you are using other than a Pronto remote, to call the Audio Authority Account Manager at 1-800-322-8436. They might be able to give you info on which learning remotes would work best.

You might ask them if a OneForAll 8810W would work. This remote is available at Walmart and sells for about $20, so if it worked it would be a good buy for you. Your profile gives no information of your location, so of course this suggestion would only work if you can get to a Walmart.

As Edmund said, universal remotes don't have codes for the C-1024. If you don't want to buy a Pronto and don't want to learn JP1 yourself, I can pre-program a remote to work the C-1024 for you.

Just as a notification to everyone who may be interested - the C-1024 has been re-released, and now works with a wider range of remote controls. It can be purchased through our website at audioauthority.com. It is now called the C-1024A.

Trent,

Very glad to hear you have re-released this product. I have just purchased one and it is a lifestyle saver. I have a Bose Lifestlye 50 with a dead PMC1 (Personal Music Center) RF only remote. I also have a Logitech XBox 360 universal remote. I was able to program codes for this remote for the Bose and it works well thanks to your product. However, some codes provided by Harmony are missing or incorrect.

Your instruction sheet lists Lifestyle 40 and 50 commands supported by the C-1024A. It would be very helpful if the HEX codes associated with the commands were listed online, so that Logitech support could help program user remotes or add these to their database (which is spotty in regards to the lifestyle 40 & 50). Are the HEX codes that operate the specified Bose Lifestyle systems through you wonderful C-1024A product available online?

I'm really looking for the "1:5 On/Off" and "DRC On/Off" commands myself.

Thanks!
Mike

Here's a spreadsheet that lists all of the Bose codes that I know of...
[Link: hifi-remote.com]

It lists the codes in decimal (aka "OBC") format rather than hex format, but if the Harmony guys are already familiar with the protocol, they should be able to figure it out.

I think these are the decimal codes that you're looking for:
89 Dyn Rng Comp ON
30 Dyn Rng Comp OFF
04 Mono:5 decoding ON
05 Mono:5 decoding OFF
