I have a bar where I show SKY. The TV’s (there are 4 + 1 projector) are all fed from one source, I would like to show a 5-minute PowerPoint presentation every half hour or so. My problem is finding a switch that would automatically change over feed from satellite > pc every half hour and back after 5-minutes. As you can imagine the change (ideally) would happen maybe 20-30 times a day. As I see it, the only component that will need switching is an RC AV SCART Switcher to change the feed from a satellite decoder to a pc, which will be continually looping a PowerPoint presentation.

I think a VCR would do the job but there would always need to be a cassette in it and I think VCR's are limited to 8 events per day which would only allow 4 presentations.

I have had recommended a HomeVision (a bit pricey, a bit overkill), Pronto TSU3000 (still a bit pricey). Has anyone any other suggestions please.

Thanks

isn't sky in the UK? that would mean you want the RU-950 not the TSU-3000 (European model of the 3000)

Tony, I posted your question over in one of the JP1 forums, to see if we could cook something up for you and one of the respondants has laid out some X10 options that might work for you, see here...

They also suggested the old Producer 8 remotes as these can do timed macros. If you're interested in following that route, I can dig out one of my spare Producer 8s and see if i can get it programmed to work that many timed macros. However, for that option to work, I would need to find out what signals your video switcher uses, so I'd need the brand and model number.

Hi Rob,
Firstly thank you for your interest.

I have not bought a video switcher yet, I wasn't completely sure which one to get...please advise. I would appreciate any help you can offer but I must point out that I live in the UK, as Anthony pointed out, and if distance (i.e. postage, etc) is going to be a problem then maybe I should deal with someone closer to home.

I am not the most pc literate person in the world and consequently I usually look for simple solutions (ones that I understand). Would it not be simpler to get a RC and point it at a switcher?

Regards,

I'm not an expert with switchers, and I certainly don't know which models are available in the UK, so I can't help there. Personally, I use a Sima SVS4 video switcher here in the States.

If you still want to go with a remote, I can certainly program one for you that will do timed macros, though I will need to see if I can re-configure it's memory so that it can store alot more macros than normal first.

What are you opening hours? (ie, that will tell me how many macros you really need).

When you're deciding what switcher to get, it would be helpful if you pick one for which there's a CCF file here at Remote Central (in the Pronto file section) as that would give me the info I would need to create an upgrade for it, which I would load into your remote. Failing that, I would need you to send me the switcher remote so I could capture the signals.

Sending stuff to the UK isn't a problem, postage will be less than $10.
