I will really appreciate a recommendation for a universal remote and/or feedback regarding IR codes for use with a Koss DVD player -- I have the Koss DVP2163 compact player.

Also, can anyone confirm if Oritron is the same as Koss, from a IR code perspective? I saw this reference on one of the forums.

Thanks,

~ Eric

Do you still have the original remote?

There is a Koss DVD player listed in the new ofa urc-6131, the code is 0651, and yes it's the same code for Orition.

Actually, I just noticed that there's an upgrade file for the DVP2163 in the JP1 file section, and the code seems to match the DVD/0711 code. The DVD/0651 code sends a different signal.

If you would like me to load the DVP2163 code into a remote for you, drop me a line off line. I could load it into a modified URC-6012 remote for $15 or a URC-8011 for $20.

Unfortunately, I do not have the original Koss remote.

I did try code DVD/0651 and DVD/0711 using a URC-4605 remote. 0651 does not work at all. The Koss DVD player does respond to code 0711, but none of the key assignments work as expected -- FF, for example, appears to function as Enter.

Any other pointers are appreciated...

A-ha, I only checked the type of signal, I didn't check the button codes. You can re-program the buttons individually using the advanced codes listed below. (If you need instructions for programming these, check my site)

Hey Rob,

Sorry for the delay getting back to you on this. Thanks for the information -- this is indeed the correct set of codes, as I was able to test them using a OFA URC-4605. I attempted to program this remote using the information on your website, but I could not get the remote to take the new codes. Does this particular model not support re-programming? Your feedback is appreciated, thanks.

The URC-4605 is a cheap and nasty remote that is barely worth the plastic used to make it (am I a remote snob or what???) :)

For some reason, it appears that the "key move" function has been removed from all the cheap OFA remotes, this didn't used to be the case.

The cheapest OFA remote that does have the key mover function (that I know of) is the URC-6012.
