I recieved an RCA Universal Remote with my Direct TV system and am trying to program for my TV. THere is no code search button and no remote type version number. I loooks very similar to the RCU800....but no code search. How do i program this for my TV.

Try this;

1. Turn TV on
2. Hold TV button, at the same time press and hold the ON/OFF button until the LED remains lit, then release.
3. point remote at TV, press and release the PLAY, then wait 5 seconds or until the LED stops flashing.

If the TV didn't turn OFF, continue to press and release the PLAY button until the TV goes off.

when it does turn off;

1. press and release REVERSE, then wait 2 seconds. Repeat this step until the TV comes on.
2. to finish, hold STOP until the LED turns off.

you tell me if there is a way to program a different

If yours is oem remote that came with an RCA product, the answer is no, where TV, CABLE, VCR can be reprogrammed, the DVD is strictly RCA.
