My Sony TV takes about 6 seconds to click on after power up. That means I need a delay before changing channels. Here's my Macro:

Press P**995
Press 1s macro on this key (1s)
Press TV + Pwr keys Turns TV on
Press Sat + Pwr keys Turns Sat on
Aux1 + 9 keys Turns Sony A/V Receiver to DSS Station.
Press TV key 4 times. This is a delay.
Press TV + 3 (Any channel number) Set channel 3 active.
Press ENTER key. Sends channel 3 signal.
Press A/B (The number of times you need for Video input-1, etc, ect.)
Press Sat key + channel number you want up first.
Press P **

This works great for me. Just remember 15 command limit.

I think the (ENTER key) is what you need to do.
Let me know Please>

Quetion! I am using the 15-1994 and spent some time this past weekend setting up the remote. Compared to everything else on the market it worth every penny spent. I need help with a couple of things.

1. When I use Aux1 (Tuner) certain buttons are disabled. The 4 buttons around the select keys. I want to know how to turn them on. I know how to remapp the buttons but the light will not light up when I'm in AUX1.

2. If you open the battery compartment there are sets of jumpers! what are they for?

3. I have a macro that only works some of the time. IT turns my TV on sets it to TV/VIDEO (for the DVD player) then it sets the TUNER to DVD and Turns the DVD player on. The problem is the macro includes pressing the tv/video button for the TV. If the TV is left on the Video screen when turned off and the macro is used it turns the TV back to normal cable. Is there a easy fix for this without buying a TV that has more then ONE VIDEO input?

4. The last question is how do you create a macro that turns everything off. I have a Sony TV, Sony DVD, Sony Tuner and JVC VCR. The problem is if the device is turned off and i hit the macro to turn it off it turns some things on. The touchscreen remote that came with my tuner has this button on it but it will not learn to the remote.

Help!

Thanks and 2 thumbs up for this site!

Jack,

I've counted the total # of your macro keystrokes
is 16. That would exceed the remote control limitation.

" :
Press TV + Pwr keys Turns TV on (2 commands)
Press Sat + Pwr keys Turns Sat on (2 commands)
Aux1 + 9 keys Turns Sony A/V Receiver to DSS Station. (2 commands)
Press TV key 4 times. This is a delay. (4 commands)
Press TV + 3 (Any channel number) Set channel 3 active. (2 commands)
Press ENTER key. Sends channel 3 signal. (1 command)
Press A/B (The number of times you need for Video input-1, etc, ect.) (assuming 1 command)
Press Sat key + channel number you want up first. (2 command)
:
"

Did I miscount?

Thansk,

Jack, Reprogram it like so:

Power rcvr first
Power TV and all commands
Power Sat last (to reamin in this device mode)

If you look above, you are using 8 commands just for 3 devices. For my satellite macro, I set it up so that sat rcvr was selected last to allow continued operation of those controls but it goes like this: RCVR Power, 4 (audio input), TV Power, 02 (channel) Channel Down (selects Input 2), DBS Power. Now count them. Ten commands! I hope I read your story right and this helps you.

Your right AC. That does add up to 16. On the last command just drop the channel number. That's what I am using anyway. However, if your macro is shorter then mine, add channel for your convenience.

I boot up my TV first because it takes so long to come on line. Also, that's the reason for the delays. Otherwise, the TV won't receive the Video-1 signal. TV is sony 32xbr250.
Thanks for your inputs.

I picked up the 15-1994 after my brother asked me to get one for him (he lives in Canada, where they are apparently unavailable), and after I read the messages in this forum. I am replacing a Sony RM-AV2000 with it because I prefer real buttons over a touchscreen. That way I can flop on the sofa and find the buttons by feel, instead of having to look at the damn thing!

I have some general comments on a few discussions in this thread.

First, for selecting a video input on Sony TVs:

You can select an input directly, instead of hitting a channel number and then cycling through the inputs. For example, the magic code for selecting TV is 243, and Video 1 is 546.

Also, all Sony equipment has "Power On" and "Power Off" codes, as opposed to "Power Toggle". Most other manufacturers probably have these, too.

To deal with the delay required for my TV and receiver to power-up before I can select a Video Input or Component Select, I've set up macros as follows:

Power: Turns on TV and Receiver.
P - Power: TV Power-down, Receiver Power-down, DVD Power-down, etc.
1s: Selects tuner on TV, and TV on Receiver.
2s: Selects Video1 on TV, DVD on Receiver, Power-up on DVD.
3s: Selects Video1 on TV, VHS on Receiver, Power-up on VHS.
etc.

When I first start up, I hit the Power button. Once the TV and Receiver are warmed up, I hit the appropriate smart button for the desired component.

My only gripe about the 15-1994 is: it doesn't have enough memory! I have a ReplayTV, which does not have a device/manufacturer code, so I've used up all of the learning memory on it (and I'd still like to train a few keys). After that, I used up all of the macro/magic memory on my other devices (and I'd still like to add some magic codes).

If there was a code to take care of the basics on the ReplayTV, I don't think I would have run out of memory. As it is, I'm out of luck. (If anyone knows otherwise, please let me know!)

The one nice thing about the (now retired) Sony AV2000 is that it has a TON of memory.

If Radio Shaft came out with a double-memory 15-1994, I would buy it - even if it cost double!

Well, I tried some of your newer ideas but no luck!! I'm not sure where the problem is occuring... maybe it is the long delays needed when switching Video inputs on my Toshiba TV. I started to play around with another approach (looks similiar to the one Mike outlined above). I'll have a macro to power on my base equipment. Then use the 1S, 2S, 3S & 4S keys to switch sources, set the receiver to the proper source and turn on any additional equipment needed (DVD, VCR...). I know I can program a macro to turn the TV to a channel then send a TV/Video to switch to Video Input One. I've had this one work. I think I may run into the same problem when I need to send 4X-TV/Video keypresses. I'll just have to live with it.
thanks for your help.

Jack, Try this: On the FOURTH tv input, press the channel number, then the ENTER key. If it works, it will reduce it by the one stroke you need. Glad I don't have to deal w/ those delays on my HT system, but for what it is worth: To access Input 2 on my TV, its Channel down once (after 2) and twice for Input 1 or visa/versa after 68.

I just got my 15-1994 last night and it looks like a real winner. Here's a hot tip and a question:

TIP: go to 207.126.118.58/~ueic/extfun.html for a form to get all the EFC's (Extended Function Codes) for your eqpt from Universal Electronics.

QUESTION: inside the battery compartment are 6 pins exposed on the circuit board. Could these be for a PC data link? I believe some of the OFA's (One For All) have that.

After reading this forum I ran out yesterday morning and bought this puppy. Best $30 I've spent on electronics.
I've been able to get it to work just about all of the functions I cared about just by using the device function codes. I've discovered a few things I couldn't do, but this morning I found the extended codes to do those with one exception.
I've got a old Kenwood KR-V9020 receiver (soon to be replaced with a Denon AVR2800) that I can't figure out how to change video inputs on. When I press 4 I get "video 1" but I can't figure out how to get "video 3" which is my DVD input. Looking through the EFC's at the Universal Electronics site for Kenwood (0313) they don't seem to match what I have on my Kenwood's remote. Is there another Kenwood code I should be using?

By the way the back lighting on this remote is about the best I've ever seen!

This remote rules.

Was just wondering why is it that there isn't a website with any and all extended functions organized and archived for oneforall type remotes. It currently is a somewhat slow email exchange process with sometimes disorganized and redundant content. With the internet's vast database usage, it would seem logical to me.

Just wondering...

Someone Help!

I would like the volume controls to ALWAYS control my receiver volume, but the "punch-through" thing doesn't seem to work with it.

Any suggestions? Any and all advise is greatly appreciated.

Brian,
There is a way to accomplish a "virtual volume lock" that will ALWAYS control the RCVR volume. My RCVR is AUX2. I want to use "virtual volume lock" in the CBL/SAT, AUX1 (DVD), and VCR modes.

Here's my setup for "virtual volume lock":
CBL/SAT * P *--** 9*9*4* AUX2 VolUp * VolUp **
CBL/SAT * P *--** 9*9*4* AUX2 VolDn * VolDn **
CBL/SAT * P *--** 9*9*4* AUX2 Mute * Mute **

Repeat that sequence, replacing the "CBL/SAT" with the other divice codes that you want to use the RCVR vol/mute.
