Steve-
I too was originally having problems getting my Denon 1700 remote to teach it's commands to the 15-1994. However, when I turned the Denon remote on it's side the 15-1994 accepted everything fine. Apparently, the infared beam is coming out of the Denon remote in a weird place and the 15-1994 can't see it when they are face-to-face. I know it sounds weird but it may work for you also.

OK... I appreciate the fact that nobody called me a dummy in my 2 previous posts. All of my issues were resolved simply by printing out and reading the whole thread... In this case, I am glad I was ignored... :)

Thanks Indycad,

I am at work right now but will try when I get home. Turning the Denon remote on its side does seem strange, but if it works who cares! I just couldn't understand how the 15-1994 could learn every remote I have except the Denon.

Thanks again, I can't wait to get home and try.

Has anyone used this remote with a Dish Network satellite receiver? I am particularly interested in the DishPlayer AKA 7100 model which is a WebTV and satellite receiver combination with TIVO or REPLAY features included.

This remote is awesome!

I finally got all of it programmed (and learned). The problem wasn't with my Denon remote, I just wasn't using the right procedure. This remote can learn a lot of keys and quickly!
Then I used a bunch of advanced codes and macros (different memory use than learning).

Have macros for the wife - one button turns everything on that is needed to watch DVD, another button turns all of the DVD stuff off, then another button turns everything on for VCR watching or TV watching thru receiver, then another button thurns all of that off!

THe backlighting is awesome - it can be set that every time you push any button they all light up but then turn off after a few seconds.

And the feel of this remote- not your ordinary hard plastic. It is almost a soft rubber compound and snugs to your hands.

This remote blows the Cinema 6 & 7 away - it has everything they have plus backlighting, better looks, etc.

Thanks to everyone for helping me get this remote - it is so much better than having 5 remotes and a Denon (not good) remote!

Just like JimO above,I'm interested in knowing if this Radio Shack Remote (15-1994) will work for the Dishnetwork "Dishplayer" (model 7100)?

Tried the x-10 "8 in 1",but didn't do it!!

Doug,

Keep in mind that it is a learning remote, so it can "learn" the keys on you original remote.

If you want, call the toll free number and ask them about the code(s). They may even have the "magic" codes as well. Be sure to tell them that you have the Radio Shack remote #15-1994.

Here's the number: 1-888-284-8735

Hope this helps,

Scott

Thanks Scott

I'll give them a call tommorow!

The x-10 "8 in 1" is a Learning Remote also, but it wouldn't Learn the commands for the Dishplayer.

I just bought the radio shack 15-1994, and I love it. Although I ran out of memory...and thats my problem.

Russ S. wrote this earlier:

"For a little bit deeper information, why would you choose option 1 over option 2 or choose option 2 over option 1???? As was written in another thread about the Cinema 7, these remotes use two different memory storage areas. One area is for Macros, remappings, and advanced codes. Another area is for "learning" commands. These two areas are completely separate. So, if you are already using a lot of macros, remappings, or advanced codes then I would suggest using option 2 and "learning" the commands so that it moves this information over to the "learning" memory area. Or if you are learning a lot of commands, then use the remapping option to help even out the memory utilization. Memory on these remotes is somewhat small, so maximizing it's utilization is important."

I'm sorry, but I have no idea what this means. I don't see anything about option 1 or 2's. But i'm curious if there is any way I can free up more memory to learn more commands? Or is there anyway to delete all the info that was pre programed in the remote? I'm not using the remote for typical things like a tv, stereo, etc. So almost everything has to be learned. Does anyone know of anyway to give me more memory?

Thanks,

Christopher

Hi guys, just bought a 15-1994 (for $29.95 still!) as a direct result of this thread. I'm a SL9000 owner and wanted a 2nd remote for a bedroom setup, but I must admit, this remote is better for feel and layout and looks; and I wouldn't mind if it was able to boot the SL9000 to the bedroom. I'm getting most codes programmed in OK, but I've got downside as compared to the SL9000, I wonder if anyone has any suggestions:

I have 2 devices (a TV and Onkyo 777 receiver) that have separate Power On and Power Off buttons. The Power On does nothing when it's already on of course. So on the SL9000, I learn the Power On directly on the Device Key for the TV, and put the Power Off on the "Power" Button. But it looks like you can't learn or put any code or macro on the 15-1994's Device Keys. Bummer. What does anyone else do for these type of devices? Seems obtuse to have Power On on 'Power', and Power Off on, say, '1s'. No way to get at those device buttons, eh?

Thanks for suggestions, Nathan

Nathan,

Do you want to have the on/off function eventually in a macro? If so, then use separate keys for on/off & add them in the macro. I too have the same problem with "discrete" codes for my Philips A/V receiver. My code will only turn my receiver off. I talked to UEI (makers of One 4 All remotes & the Radio Shack remote) and they were to work it out for me and fax a solution to my office. I'll post the solution that they give me this evening.

Later...

Looks like you also can't code/learn/macro on the Sleep and Light buttons. Someone please tell me if I've got that wrong (and therefore am doing something wrong).

Also, where's the best page of info on all the 99X 97X 'command' codes? (short instructions on how to use each, preferablly with examples.) Is there a Cinema page that shows this?

Thanks, Nathan

i tried one of the jensen remotes listed on this web site (bought it before i came here), and it will not work with my aiwa tuner, or my philips dvd player - am still looking for something that will, and am a bit bummed because i like the keypad on the jensen (recotron) A LOT...it would be excellent if it would JUST WORK RIGHT! oh well - back to the store. guess i'll give r. shack a try...
