Any tricks for getting the background light on my 15-1994 to work again?

All other buttons appear to work. I've had it for two years so it's out of warranty.

Thanks, Kerry

Typically when the backlight goes it's because the transformer is broken and these are hard to find to replace.

Thanks Rob, I was afraid of that.

The light was a nice feature but not enough to buy a new remote :=)

Thanks, Kerry

I have found a source for the part in Hong Kong and am considering ordering some of them if there are enough people who would want to try fixing their remotes with them. Are you good at soldering?

Hi Rob:

Yes, I've got several soldering iron tip sizes and temps. I'm willing to try it if it's not too expensive.

Have enough others run into this problem for you to be pretty sure it's the part you will be ordering?

Thanks, Kerry

I was given the part number by a contact at the company that makes these remotes, so I know it's the right part, but that doesn't guarantee that this is the part that's broken on your remote specifically. Someone else was able to fix the backlight on their Producer 8 by replacing the oscillator and capacitor.

Hey Hydro,
Are you ever lost, or what! How did you end up in a really old thread about a Radio Shack remote, when you are looking for info on a Panasonic remote?

Good luck driving home.

Jack, why would you want someone to post codes for a One For All URC-6530 remote in a thread about the Radio Shack 15-1994 remote?

Hello to all and thanks for any help you can give me. I have a 15.1994 and the light stays on all the time now!!!! Battery life is about 1 1/2 days!!! Backlighting is nice but i could do without that! Anyway i have taken remote apart and button looks ok only thing i can think of is a short somewhere. Screws holding bottom half of the pcb are glued so i have not looked in that area yet. Anyone know if there is a way to get that glue off so i can get to the screws? If not i really do not need backlight any suggestions on how to cut the lights out completely? Thanks!!
