Does anyone know what the difference is between the 15-1994 and 15-1995 Radio Shack remotes?

Based on recommendations contained in this thread I purchased 15-1994 remote and for first time I have FULL control of all devices with just one remote (TV, receiver, DSS and VCR). Many thanks to all contributors, esp. Jeff at mandala.com, for making setup a breeze. Still one question: What are pins under battery cover for?

After your many reviews I purchased this remote and love it. Thanks to Jeff at Mandala especially, his web page is better than the instructions. I do have one question though being new to this "macro" stuff. I understand assigning all the devices to turn off and on with the power button, but I only want the cable and TV to do this. I accomplished this but everytime I went to power up the DVD, VCR, etc. the cable and TV turns off! How can I power up just the two together!? Thanks - Jim

Has anyone figured out if the backlighting can be adjusted? It would be nice to have it stay on indefinitely when needed.

Has anyone had any difficulty getting "tracking" buttons programmed on these remotes? I can get everything working on my old Magnavox VCR except for it to learn the tracking buttons.

Thanks,
Rob

Help! Had problem using a JVC DVD player with this remote till I found a post saying the advanced codes were wrong for code 0558. Tried his suggestion and it worked perfectly. Need help now with a Kenwood receiver (VR-309). Can't find any 4 digit codes that will be accepted let alone advanced codes. I've tried the learning function with success except for one function. There is a "video" button on original remote that changes input from "DSS"-"VCR"-"DVD" but when I try to get the 15-1994 to learn this function it can only change the input to "VCR" and once there it is stuck. Help...this is the last function I need to be complete.

Thanks,
Rrick

I too am having trouble getting it to work my Kenwood VR-309. Other than that it's been great - with the help of this forum. Any input on getting it to run the Kenwood will finish the job, thanks. I've tried "remapping" aux1 back to aux1 which is supposed to handle recievers but it won't take 0313 or 0314 for some reason.

Rick (with the VR309) I figured out how to switch between DSS - VCR - DVD. You'll need three separate Remote buttons though. I had the same problem you did, so I figured maybe it's putting out a different IR for each, which the Kenwood remote is. So, in learn mode on the 15-1994, when you get to the point where you press the appropriate key on the kenwood remote (the video button) pushing it the first time gives you VCR, the second push gives you DVD, the third push DSS or whatever (I only use two video inputs). You'll have to program three separate 15-1994 keys, the first is simple, just push the kenwood's video button, for the second key aim the remote AWAY from the 15-1994 for the first push and aim at the 1994 for the second push, for the third button aim the Kenwood away for the first two pushes and aim at the 1994 for the third push. I'm sure this is the same for the audio switching, which isn't as big a deal to me. Good luck, email me if you have questions.

15-1994 and Yamaha 2095

I can't select the input devices! The numeric keypad works as follows: 1- Tuner; 2-VCR1; 3-VCR2; 4-?; 5-DVD; 6-Tape; 7-VAUX; 8-Phono' 9-?.

It skips the CD and TV input. This is one of the reasons why I left the Cinema 7. I tried learning the input function on the "learning keys" with no success. Also the three digit codes I have seen can't be programmed to the numeric keypad with success. Any ideas? I gues one option would be to wire my TV and CD to the VCR/AUX inputs.

Just wanted to say that I bought this remote today and spent a long time studying the messages here . Thanks to everyone who has posted here, as, without this discussion, I would have been lost!

I picked up a 15-1994 last night after reading through this thread. In only a few minutes I had it controlling my TV, digital cable box, VCR, and receiver. Tonight I'm going to program in the macros and advanced features. This is just what I was looking for and far less expensive than the $100+ programmable remotes. Thanks for all the excellent technical info and product reviews.

David O,

I had the same problem. The 0176 device code simply does not map well for the 2095. The advanced code lists also do not jive with the 2095 remote very well.

However, you can use the following advanced function codes to solve your problems. 100 = TV/DBS, 120 = CD. You can just program these codes onto the desired number keys. It worked for me!

David O,

I forgot to mention that I actually own the Cinema 7 IQ, not the RS 15-1994. But it should hopefully still work for you!

Anyone try getting this remote to work with a Philips TiVo? I'm planning on picking one up tomorrow and was wondering if I was gonna have problems with the remote.
