I have noticed that there are a lot of requests for help with the u616 not being able to handle repeated presses of numeric keys eg 33, 44, 55 etc and that learning them for longer may help. I'm wondering if these are the same problem as I already posted on the Ucommand 616 thread back in October 2000 and to which there is a possible explanation in the text below. I have included the original mail text from back then below.

Question - My TV is posing a real problem with this remote as it will not accept repeated numeric buttons but will accept any other repeated buttons e.g volume and channel up/down??? I guess I'm suffering from the parity issue described elsewhere on this website ([Link: remotecentral.com])
but surely that would affect all the buttons learnt.

Sounds similar??

As you can see this is a known restriction of lots of learning remotes and I'm surprised no one has refered to this article before now.

Its not the learning of the signal as my TV will quite happliy change to channel 22, 33, 44, etc. But if a try the same thing with teletext i.e page 222 it won't get passed the first digit. Hence my TV is being selective in when it takes notice of the toggle bit in the signal!

My original question to Uli and co still stands. If and when can a firmware fix be made available to cope with this toggle bit like the pronto remotes do????

Still waiting in anticipation.
Neil.

Even the Pronto's toggle-bit fix is only for devices they know about. Which is far from everything. :-(

Daniel this may be true, but my one-for-all-5 remote works perfectly well with this TV and that only costs £30! I know that that relies on codes but even so.

Is there any way with the suggested library of codes to be used with the base unit and software to indicate when toggling is required as if companies like One-for-all and Yamaha can manage this surely others can as well????

I'm don't mean to sound all doom and gloom with this remote as it's excellent in all other respects is just that for the price RRP £149 (and the number of TV's that seem to exhibit this toggling) there should be some way of overcoming it?

Neil.

Neil: Unfortunately there is a general difference between learned codes and pre-defined instruction sets, like the One For All and Yamaha models you mention. I am sorry, but so far we did not find a solution for this problem.

Any comments from tech savvy fellows?

MODEL FILES FOR X10 CODES finally available!

It took really long, but finally we have the model file for controlling the IR543 and compatible transceivers with the UC-616.
It controls up to 10 channels and lets you access the functions via menu (display) or hard buttons. Thus you don't have to flip through the different screens.

Neil: this is a longshot, but have you tried HOLDING the button for the first digit of 3-digit "channels"? I remember with my old RCA Hi-Fi VCR (VR683HF) to access channels 100 and up, you had to HOLD the "1" button until the channel display showed THREE digit places (i.e. "1--"). After that, you could enter the remaining 2 digits.

Couldn't hurt to try... :)

Has anyone had any luck getting the ucommand 515 to learn the PS2 Saitek remote, or any other PS2 remote? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Uli, How long do you think it will be before we see code sets for the UC616? What I really need are Model sets for Sony TV; specifically discrete commands for Power-on and Power-off. Thx.

Uli and the lads are working on codes, sort of one Device at a time, probably in order of most popular requests. However, a full code library is a massive undertaking and requires a good deal of communication and understanding with all the manufacturers. This is not an easy thing. The alternative is an expensive licensing from someone like URCI... and even then the remote would have to be set up, chipwise, to handle them. ... Mike

I recently purchased your UC-515 remote from SMARTHOME.COM. I also purchased the IR543 Infrared Command Center. I cannot seem to configure the "0"-"1" set code for X10 capability. Everytime I do the require set up sequence I get three error beeps and it goes back to normal mode. Is there something that I am doing wrong have I not clear the device's screen, or not recalled the X10 configuration. I love the UC-515, but if I cannot use the IR543 Command Center with it I will need to change remotes. Please contact me back and give me some troubleshooting tips, and or better instructions than what was listed in the resellers manual. The Resellers Manual on-line just said that if I get the three beeps than I cannot do the X-10 functions. I bought the remote under the impression that the only preprogrammed codes where those of X10 capability and recalling them would be no problem. Please contact me ASAP, I am extremely eager to get this working, or start the search for a new remote.
Thank You,
Thomas

The UC515 needs to have X-10 codes preprogrammed... are you sure yours came with them? Otherwise, contact Uli.

the 515 will not operate my jvc tv`s (3) or vcr`s (2) it also will not operate my pioneer reciever and cd player.

I tried it on a phillips tv and it will not let you use the same button twice (for instance power on and off can`t be performed in succession or channel 22, 33, 44, 55...).

the unit is great looking and nicely priced. it has some great features if it only worked!!!
