Email details from Philips

Thank you for your enquiry.

The RC9800i will be generally available in the US as of end of May 2005 and in Europe as of September 2005.

Availability for Australia will be end of 2005 after the launch of the European version.

Regards,

Home Control Team.

Why is it that we in Euorpe alway have to wait longer for the release of these products

If there is anyone from Philips listening how about a product that combines the known functionallity of the Pronto range and the expected functionality of the RC9800i....and before you all cry iPronto..... it would be nice to see one at a relistic price in line with the ProntoNG or RC9800i

Additionally... does anyone know whether the RC9800i can handle IR controlled lighting (x10 via IR receiver) or whether the 'Future proofing' of the product would allow such enhancements??

I'll give 2-1 odds on ANY amount of money you want that this will not be released by the end of May, or within 11 days.

Any takers?

Just came back from my local best buy, no 9800 and no idea what on earth I was talking about.

Did a search on best buy .com just to see if any store in the entire country had it in stock or even listed on the website...sorry no.

[Link: bestbuy.com]

So, until you see one it is speculation and rumor but, I will accept your bet Justaclicker and if you win Ill send you $20 if you lose I expect $10.

Philips sends all there direct dealers shipping reports every Monday. I will let everyone know if the RC9800i is on the report this Monday. It's supposed to be in next week, but we'll know for sure on Monday...

Also... here's a link to the software company Philips used for the backend of the new 9800i.

Philips did not ship any 9800's to their largest distributor last week. Looks like the wait continues... June is looking correct at this point.

Any one think I should wait? I'm about 50/50 between wanting the look of the rc9800i and wanting the pc editting of the tsu7000. I just found a seller on ebay selling new tsu7000s for $450 shipped, the best price i've ever seen. The seller has 5 in stock. [Link: cgi.ebay.com] And it does carry a 1 year warranty. I hate making these hard decisions.

Good Price -

I think it is a "5 Day Listing" - Looks like he/she only has one.

There are 4 others if you look at the other items they have. I don't think I'm going to get a better deal than this I might just get it and if I decide to get the rc9800i later on I'll just sell the tsu7000.

The RC9800i is officially launched in the USA. It is currently shipping to dealers. To find a RC9800i dealer in your area, a dealer locator tool will be available as soon as possible.

copyed that from the site, they finally updated it with new things

Brother, if we can't find a dealer with our network of remote geeks, then it aint available in the US regardless of what that website says.

If anyone finds a 9800 anywhere in the US please post the dealers name, email or phone number in this thread.

We received our tracking information this morning. Philips shipped out the following 9800's yesterday. We will receive them Tuesday or Wednesday of next week and start shipping the same day.

Chicago Warehouse - 100 pieces
Pennsylvania Warehouse - 200 pieces

Philips shipped from their Ohio warehouse so it should be one day to both locations. The memorial day weekend may slow down the shipments, if so it would be Wednesday...

Thanks!
